Restaurant Skøgul offers Nordic style seasonal meals in a cozy environment. We offer lunch and coffee, as well as à la carte meals and drinks. The restaurant is owned by students at Aalto University and can be found on Jätkäsaari, by the cultural center.
Welcome to Skøgul!
In 2012, when Teknologföreningen got the opportunity to build student rental apartments on Jätkäsaari, the idea to open a restaurant in the same block was born. We wanted to create a cozy gathering place for the inhabitants of Jätkäsaari, and out of this idea a modern, Nordic style restaurant was born.
The name Skøgul is taken from Norse mythology: one of the valkyries in Valhalla was named Skøgul. Skøgul’s task was to fill the drinking horns of the æsir gods. The name also associates to the restaurant’s owners, Teknologföreningen, whose building Urdsgjallar on the Aalto University campus is named after the gjallarhorn in Norse mythology.
